Balqiz Baika Utami (2) is a blind child due to premature birth. With very limited information about early care for blind baby, Primaningrum, the mother, tries with her own method to accompany the growth of her special needs’ baby.
She doesn’t cover herself by “hiding” her baby from the neighborhood. Her openness is an important point in this case. Parents shouldn’t cover themselves from the reality that their sweetheart is in special needs.
For Primaningrum herself, this openness also teaches her mentality. “If I’m not strong enough, how can I teach Balqiz to be mentally strong later on?” she said.
Balqiz Baika Utami (2), adalah balita penyandang tuna netra akibat kelahiran prematur. Dengan informasi yang sangat terbatas tentang penanganan dini balita netra, Primaningrum, sang ibu berusaha dengan metoda sendiri untuk mendampingi tumbuh kembang anaknya yang memiliki kebutuhan khusus.
Dia juga tidak menutup diri dengan “menyembunyikan” anaknya dari lingkungan. Keterbukaan sang ibu ini justru menjadi titik penting mengapa para orang tua seharusnya tidak perlu menutup diri jika memiliki buah hati yang memiliki kebutuhan khusus.
Bagi Primaningrum, keterbukaan ini juga menjadi ajang melatih mental dirinya. “Jika mental saya tidak kuat, bagaimana saya bisa mendidik Balqiz memiliki mental yang tangguh kelak?”, ujarnya.
